Japanese boxwood (Satsuma Tsuge)

Our Tsuge brush pin is Japanese boxwood (Satsuma Tsuge) where is grown at Kagoshima prefecture in south part of Japan called Kyusyu.

Satsuma Tsuge has been highly prized for woodwork as signature stamp, Japanese chess Shogi pieces and such since ancient times.
Because of that it takes long period of time to grow, this is close grained, smooth, strong and supple.
It is often said that boxwood is a material that lasts a lifetime, and among boxwood varieties, Satsuma boxwood is a material that, with proper care, can be enjoyed for many years to come.
By these characteristics, it has been familiar for long as fortunate material such as for marital harmony, household safety and so on.

Camellia oil

Camellia oil is often used for traditional Japanese comb.
It blends well with the skin and has been used in Japan since ancient times to moisturize and protect hair, scalp, and skin.
Pin is made of close grained Japanese Satsuma boxwood (Satsuma Tsuge) which is often used for traditional Japanese comb.

Our delicately handcrafted Tsuge Brush is also penetrated with Camellia oil.
The camellia oil is made at Kumamoto in Kyusyu.
It is made with natural camellia seeds, processed using a traditional method, and it has a subtle sent and well suit to using for hair which is close to face.

Japanese Boxwood Brush (Tsuge Brush)

Tsuge brush which is delicately handcrafted by artisan from pieces while preserving tradition and penetrated well with Camelia oil, leads brush pins through the hair smoothly, and the more you comb, the more camellia oil is evenly distributed all the way to your hair.

And also, Japanese Satsuma boxwood is characteristics of combines hardness and suppleness, works well for scalp massage.

With penetrating camellia oil well into brush body and coated, dirt such from hands less likely to get into wood grain, and it makes easy to remove dirt and easy to keep it clean.
