Beppu Tsuge Kogei (Beppu Japanese boxwood craft work shop) was founded in1919 as a Japanese boxwood woodwork studio in Beppu where is Kyusyu, south part of Japan.
Beppu is one of the most famous Japanese hot spring towns in Oita and rich in nature surrounded by sea and mountain.
Drawing on the expertise accumulated since our founding, we carefully craft each piece, working closely with every single piece of wood to create high-quality boxwood crafts.
Preserving tradition and
striving for a new era of boxwoodcraftsmanship
We started with Japanese traditional boxwood comb and hair pin (Kanzashi) for Kimono style and the craftwork has changed over the time.
According to hair style changes with changes of Japanese Kimono to Western clothing, now we are making hair brush delicately handcrafted by artisan from pieces while preserving tradition with a desire to share the timeless appeal of boxwood combs.
